Summer 2016 In my second year studying photography at AKV Sint Joost I was asked by the city archive of Breda to photograph the Belcrum area located next to the central station in Breda. This Belcrum area that used to be occupied by local residents now had to share their neighborhood with new forms of life. Older generation Belcrumers shared their stories with me about the neighborhood and let me photograph them in their personal spaces.

There is a tree behind the building.
What does the text on the building say? I can only recognise “INC” behind the second and last row of text. Is that a logo on top?
Chains hanging from a fire hydrant dramatically.
Is that a piece of concrete in front of the fire hydrant, is it a stone?
Candidness The quality of being open, and sincere in expression. Always looking for honesty in images. Unposed images.  Unposed images of non-static objects. Unposed images of static objects.
#001Friday 17:17, 22-12-2017While im browsing through a thrift store a friend hands me this framed picture of a fire hydrant. I quickly examine the picture and decide to purchase it. I don’t have anything to store it in so I keep it in my hands for the rest of the day. Throughout my day I keep peeking at it and keep noticing new things. A simple picture of a fire hydrant framed with care, what did this picture mean to it’s former owner? What is the location of the fire hydrant?  What is the building behind it? What does the text on the building say? I can only recognise “INC” behind the second and last row of text.  What hides behind the door of the building, behind the fire hydrant? There is a tree behind the building. Is that a piece of concrete in front of the fire hydrant, is it a stone? The lower right edge of the glass picture frame is missing a piece. Chains hanging from a fire hydrant dramatically. Why is this such a good picture?
